How to get admission in University of Delhi for masters?
University of Delhi is one of the most prestigious institutes of India. According to the NIRF 2022 report it ranked 13th among the top universities in India. Delhi University is a well known centre of education with the expertise of some of the very renowned professors from all over India. The university welcomes applicants from various parts of India. Earlier the university used to conduct an entrance test DUET for the admission. According to the new rule, the applicants are now supposed to clear the CUET exam in order to get admission in the university. Earlier the exam was known as CUCET or Central University Common Entrance Test which included Undergraduate, Integrated, Postgraduate, Diploma, Certification courses and Research Programmes in 45 Central Universities of India. The CUET exam conducted for both undergraduate and post graduate students includes a wide number of Universities.
CUET- PG or Computer Based Entrance Test is an exam conducted by the National Testing Agency for the students seeking admission in M.A, MSc, MCom and LLB. This common entrance test brings all the universities of India into a single umbrella and saves the time and money of the students pursuing higher education. Around 143 Universities from all over India will be welcoming aspirants based on the result of CUET- PG entrance exam.
Delhi University also comes under this umbrella. Students who want to apply to the University of Delhi are required to clear this exam. After this, various cut offs are released by several affiliated colleges of Delhi University. The cutoffs are subject specific and the students can apply to these colleges according to the marks obtained by them in the CUET exam.
The students who have scored Minimum of 50% marks in graduation from a recognized university ; 5% relaxation for SC, ST, OBC, PwD candidates are eligible for this exam. The exam consists of 100 questions in the multiple choice based pattern. The exam time is 2 hours. For every right answer the student is awarded with 4 marks and 1 mark is deducted for every wrong answer. The exam is divided into 2 sections. The first 25 questions consist of Language Comprehension/Verbal Ability, General Awareness, Mathematical/Quantitative ability and Analytical Skills. The next 75 questions are based on the subject that the student has applied for. For e.g. English, Psychology, Commerce etc. The syllabus of the exam varies subject wise and the student is advised to visit the NTA website for a detailed over view of the syllabus.
