    GOA PSC English Literature Syllabus in Details

    Eligibility: Candidates must possess a bachelor's degree from a recognized university. Some posts may require specific qualifications or professional degrees.

    Age Limit: Generally, the age limit is between 21-38 years, with age relaxations available for reserved categories as per government rules.

    Selection Process:

    Preliminary Examination (Objective-type questions).

    Main Examination (Descriptive papers).

    Interview/Personality Test.

    The preliminary exam is an objective type (multiple choice questions) consisting of two papers:

    Paper I: General Studies (200 marks)

    • Current events of national and international importance.
    • History of India and the Indian National Movement.
    • Indian and World Geography.
    • Indian Polity and Governance.
    • Economic and Social Development.
    • Environmental Ecology, Biodiversity, and Climate Change.
    • General Science.

    Paper II: Aptitude Test (200 marks)

    • Comprehension.
    • Interpersonal skills, including communication skills.
    • Logical reasoning and analytical ability.
    • Decision-making and problem-solving.
    • General mental ability.
    • Basic numeracy.
    • Data interpretation.

    The mains examination consists of descriptive papers designed to test in-depth knowledge and writing skills.

    • Paper I: General Studies I (Essay, History, Geography, Politics, Economy).
    • Paper II: General Studies II (Governance, Constitution, Social Justice, International Relations).
    • Paper III: Optional Subject (Candidates can choose one subject from a given list, such as Literature, Engineering, etc.).
    • Each paper carries 250 marks, and the optional paper allows candidates to showcase their expertise in a specific subject.

    After qualifying in the main examination, candidates are called for an interview/personality test to assess their overall personality, aptitude for public service, and communication skills. This round carries significant weight in the final selection.
