Earlier the exam was known as CUCET or Central University Common Entrance Test which included Undergraduate, Integrated, Postgraduate, Diploma, Certification courses and Research Programmes in 45 Central Universities of India. The CUET exam conducted for both undergraduate and post graduate students includes a wide number of Universities.

The students who have scored Minimum of 50% marks in graduation from a recognized university ; 5% relaxation for SC, ST, OBC, PwD candidates are eligible for this exam. The exam consists of 100 questions in the multiple choice based pattern. The exam time is 2 hours.
