    JK PSC English Literature Syllabus in Details

    The JKPSC exam consists of three stages:

    1. Preliminary Examination (Objective Type)
    2. Main Examination (Descriptive)
    3. Interview (Personality Test)

    The preliminary exam serves as a screening test for the main examination. It consists of two papers, both objective type (multiple choice).

    1. Paper 1: General Studies
      • History: Indian and Jammu & Kashmir history, with an emphasis on freedom movements and local historical events.
      • Geography: Physical and economic geography of India and Jammu & Kashmir, including important geographical features.
      • Polity: Indian Constitution, Jammu & Kashmir’s state constitution, polity, and governance.
      • Economy: Economic reforms, planning, budgeting, and the state’s economy.
      • Environment: Ecological concerns, climate change, and biodiversity, particularly with regard to Jammu & Kashmir.
      • Current Affairs: National and international current events, with a special focus on Jammu & Kashmir.
      • Science & Technology: General awareness of scientific developments.
    2. Paper 2: Civil Services Aptitude Test (CSAT)
      • Comprehension
      • Logical Reasoning and Analytical Ability
      • Decision Making and Problem Solving
      • General Mental Ability
      • Numeracy: Data interpretation using tables, charts, and graphs.

    The mains are descriptive in nature and test the candidate’s depth of knowledge. The JKPSC main exam includes multiple papers:

    1. General English: Essay writing, précis writing, and comprehension.
    2. Essay Paper: Essays on topics related to general knowledge, national and international importance, and Jammu & Kashmir.
    3. General Studies I: Indian heritage, history, culture, and geography of India and Jammu & Kashmir.
    4. General Studies II: Polity, governance, international relations, and constitutional issues related to India and Jammu & Kashmir.
    5. General Studies III: Economy, science, technology, environment, and security challenges.
    6. Optional Subjects: Candidates can choose one or two optional subjects from a list provided by JKPSC.

    The final stage is the interview, which assesses the candidate’s personality, mental sharpness, and ability to handle administrative tasks. Candidates are also expected to have an awareness of Jammu & Kashmir’s specific issues, culture, and governance.

    This course structure ensures that candidates are tested comprehensively on their aptitude, knowledge of the state, and general awareness, preparing them for various administrative roles in Jammu & Kashmir.
