    UK PSC English Literature Syllabus in Details

    The UKPSC exam consists of the following stages:

    1. Preliminary Examination (Objective Type)
    2. Main Examination (Descriptive)
    3. Interview (Personality Test)

    The preliminary exam is an objective type and serves as a screening test for the mains. It includes two papers:

    1. General Studies Paper I
      • History of India and Uttarakhand: Major events, movements, and historical importance of Uttarakhand.
      • Geography: Physical, social, and economic geography of India and Uttarakhand.
      • Polity and Constitution: Indian Constitution, political system, governance with a focus on Uttarakhand's administrative structure.
      • Economy: Indian economy and Uttarakhand's economy, including development plans and reforms.
      • Environmental Issues: Biodiversity, ecological concerns, and climate change issues relevant to Uttarakhand.
      • Current Affairs: National, international, and state-level events, especially concerning Uttarakhand.
      • Science & Technology: General scientific awareness and advancements.
    2. General Aptitude Paper (CSAT)
      • Comprehension
      • Logical Reasoning and Analytical Ability
      • Decision Making and Problem Solving
      • Basic Numeracy: Data interpretation, graphs, and tables.
      • General Mental Ability

    The main examination is descriptive and evaluates in-depth knowledge. It consists of the following papers:

    1. Language Paper: Hindi essay writing, comprehension, grammar, and translation.
    2. General Studies I: Indian history, culture, Uttarakhand’s history, and world geography.
    3. General Studies II: Indian Constitution, governance, international relations, social justice, and policies of Uttarakhand.
    4. General Studies III: Economy, environment, disaster management, science and technology, and Uttarakhand’s economic development.
    5. General Studies IV: Ethics, integrity, and aptitude.
    6. Optional Subject: Candidates choose one optional subject from a list provided by UKPSC.

    The interview is the final stage, assessing the candidate’s personality, leadership qualities, communication skills, and understanding of socio-political issues, with a special focus on Uttarakhand.

    The UKPSC exam is designed to assess candidates’ suitability for administrative roles in the state, ensuring they have the necessary knowledge of local governance, culture, and socio-economic issues in Uttarakhand.
