Hello peeps, we are back after an exciting camping trip to Rishikesh! Oops! Wrong timing. We hope you have started revising for the next WB SET exam as per the WB SET exam syllabus. Oh yeah! You are almost ready. But we have a full-fledged guide for you to prepare for the exam in just five days! These prep tips will enable you to smoothly cross all hurdles and score more. Are you excited to know these tips? Hell…yes… we can hear you.

Here are top tips to prepare for the WB SET exam in the last five days.

  1. Understand the Exam Pattern and Syllabus

Before diving into preparation, it’s essential to know what you’re up against.

WB SET Exam Pattern: The WB SET exam pattern will include two papers and both the papers will have objective-type questions. The Paper 1 of the WB SET will be of 100 marks in which you need to answer 50 questions compulsorily for an hour from 10:30 am to 11:30 am. The Paper II will contain 100 questions and take place from 12 noon to 2:00 pm. Each question will carry two marks. The WB SET exam for Paper I will focus on assessing the teaching and research aptitude. It will primarily be designed to test reasoning ability, comprehension, divergent thinking and general awareness of the candidate. So, are you ready for the real challenge?

 What to Do Now?

  1. Download the WB SET Exam Syllabus :Focus only on topics that frequently appear in the exam.
  2. Analyze Previous Years’ Papers:Identify high-weightage topics and recurring questions.
  3. Set a Timetable:Allocate 2–3 hours for Paper 1 and 4–5 hours for Paper 2 daily.
  4. Master Paper 1 – General Aptitude

Paper 1 tests your teaching and research aptitude, reasoning, and general awareness. Ignoring paper 1 is not a solution. Revising it becomes more essential as it can be quite scoring.

Focus Areas:

  1. Teaching Aptitude:Focus on concepts of teaching, methods, and learner characteristics.
  2. Research Aptitude:Try to revise topics related to research methods, types, and ethics.
  3. Reasoning:Practice logical reasoning, puzzles, and data interpretation questions because they are scoring.
  4. General Awareness:Focus on current affairs and higher education system in India. Read newspapers and other journals to stay updated.

What to Do Now?

  • Solve one mock test for Paper 1.
  • Revise shortcuts for logical reasoning and practice DI questions.
  • Read briefly about educational policies like NEP 2020.
  1. Dive Into English Literature (Paper 2)

Paper 2 is where subject mastery comes into play.

What to Focus On:

  1. Select 4–5 important topics that are most likely to appear like literary theories, literary criticism, cultural studies, etc.
  2. Understand key theories, concepts, and their applications.
  3. Revise short notes or summaries for lengthy topics.

What to Do Now?

  • Solve at least 50 questions from previous years’ papers in your subject.
  • Watch quick revision videos or lectures for tricky concepts.
  • Make flashcards for definitions, dates, or theories.
  1.  Practice and Revise

It’s time to test your knowledge and refine weak areas.

What to Do Now?

  1. Take a full-length mock test for both Paper 1 and Paper 2.
  2. Analyze your mistakes and revise those topics.
  3. Revise chronology, key facts, important works and important authors/theories.

Key Tip:

Focus on accuracy and speed during practice.

  1. Final Preparation and Relaxation

The last day is all about consolidating your preparation and staying calm.

What to Do Now?

  1. Revise key notes and flashcards.
  2. Skim through important sections of the syllabus.
  3. Avoid learning anything new—this can lead to confusion.
  4. Meditate or engage in light exercise to keep your mind relaxed.
