What is the JK SET Exam?

The JK SET exam is conducted by the University of Jammu to determine eligibility for Assistant Professorship in universities and colleges across Jammu and Kashmir. In simpler terms, if you want to teach at a college or university level in Jammu and Kashmir, clearing this exam is your first step.

 

 

JK SET exam pattern

The design and scheme of question papers for SET is similar to NET conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). There are two papers. Both the papers will have multiple-type questions, matching questions, assertion and reasoning, and true or false. The exam will be held on a day in two separate sessions. The JK SET exam will take place on an offline mode.

JK SET paper 1 will be of one hour from 10 am to 11 am. The questions in paper 1 will assess the teaching and research aptitude. It will primarily test reasoning ability, reading comprehension, divergent thinking, and general awareness. There will be total 50 questions and the question paper will be of 100 marks. You will be awarded 2 marks for each correct answer. There is no negative marking in the JK SET exam.

JK SET Paper 2 will take place for two hours from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm. You will answer 100 questions for 200 marks.

 

 

JK SET paper 1 syllabus

The JK SET paper 1 syllabus covers 10 modules. Five questions from each module will be asked from the JK SET paper 1 syllabus, carrying two marks each.

Unit-I Teaching Aptitude

  • Teaching: Concept, Objectives, Levels of teaching (Memory, Understanding

and Reflective), Characteristics and basic requirements.

  • Learner’s characteristics: Characteristics of adolescent and adult learners

(Academic, Social, Emotional and Cognitive), Individual differences.

  • Factors affecting teaching related to: Teacher, Learner, Support material,
  • Instructional facilities, Learning environment and Institution.
  • Methods of teaching in Institutions of higher learning: Teacher centred vs.
  • Learner centred methods; Off-line vs. On-line methods (Swayam,

Swayamprabha, MOOCs etc.).

  • Teaching Support System: Traditional, Modern and ICT based.
  • Evaluation Systems: Elements and Types of evaluation, Evaluation in Choice
